Standard installation
The standard Water Witch setup relies on three main components to operate:
- Control box with Smart Sense technology
- Float level sensor installed within a balance line
- Solenoid valve connected to an appropriate water source
After correctly installing the Water Witch, it will continuously monitor the water level.
The sensor sits within the balance line and monitors the water level every 2-3 seconds.
When the water level drops below the level marked on the sensor, a ball float inside the sensor lowers and allows a light beam to connect an LED transmitter and receiver in the top of the sensor.
The control box sends an electrical current to open the solenoid which allows water to flow into the pool from a water source. As water is added to the body of water, the water level rises and the ball float is pushed to the top of the sensor.
When the ball float intersects the light beam inside the top of the sensor, the control box recognises the pool is full and adds a small amount of additional water based on an internal timer.
The timer for the additional water is based on the volume of the pool and by adding slightly more water it ensures the system is not continuously switching between fill and scan.
The solenoid valve closes when the additional water has been added and the unit monitors the water level until such time as it needs to fill again.
Low pressure water source
Alternatively, your installation could be fed from a tank via a pump, the sensor will activate the pump, using a relay switch (not provided with the Water Witch kit), to fill the pool.
In this case, the solenoid is not required.
